RJ45 adapter, 8 bit DOUT/SMINI Inverting Output
This version of RJ45 Adapter is aimed at CMRI users using common cathode signals and a positive true output. It includes a 74HC540 octal latch inverter (the latches are hard wired on) to source~ 8 mA @ 4V, which should be adequate for modern LEDs.
The board is set up for your choice of inputs:
- 0.156 female Molex Connector which plugs on a DOUT or SMINI Output
- 3.5 mm pads (usually screw terminals),
- 0.100 (2.56 mm) pads for any 0.100 connector.
Pads are provided for limiting resistors (you cut the normally connected trace and insert the desired resistor value) as the intended use is to drive common cathode signals.
A set of 6 0.100 pads are provided (2 for 5V, 4 for ground) for power, daisy chaining and connection to an external ground reference.
John Plocher did the original design based on a request from Jay Beckham, and later extended it to support limiting resistors based on user requests. Kris Puccinelli modified this design to include an octal inverter, but not on EAGLE. This is an EAGLE version, designed for panelization.
