Product Description

MP8 Switch Motor

The MP8 is similar to our best-selling MP4 but is optimized for push button operation and its controls are compatible with most twin coil designs. You don't need to provide a continuous ground on the operate leads: the MP8 will start moving with a 100ms touch or pulse and moves to the end of travel. This makes the MP8 ideal for applications where a motor is controlled from two or more locations: multiple "move to the normal position" and "move to the reversed position" push buttons can be wired in parallel. There is no toggle switch to suggest a switch position, so if the switch is later operated from another position there is no confusion. The Aux 2 contact provides a ground indicating the Normal or Reversed state of the motor and it can support as many LED indicators as required. Applications include: modules with controls on both sides, Wyes, turnouts on turnback blobs at the end of peninsulas. This also makes the MP8 ideal for diode matrix applications as a group of motors on a route can be wired to operate with a single push button.

The MP8 Switch Motor is the 3rd generation of MTB switch machines, it has all the features of the wildly successful MP4 including a Double Pole Double Throw (DPDT) contact (frog power plus an indicator), adjustable 3mm to 12mm throw, and a plug-in screw-terminal connector.

The MP8 REQUIRES DC power, 9-15V. The motor must see DC voltage across its V+/V- terminals.

The MP8 shares mechanical dimensions and characteristics of the MP4 and DP4.
